Royal Doulton
This from an ebay seller about Janet HN 1537:

"EARLY MODEL INDICATED BY THE DOULTON MARK USED (HN NUMBER IS WRITTEN BY HAND, ALSO ARTIST'S MARK (INITIALS MB? HB?) MAKES THIS PIECE HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE "JANET" HN 1537 circa 1932-35 ... 61/4" (15.9 cm)TALL- RETIRED SELLING NOW IN EBAY STORE(S) FOR $179.00-$299.00, (some without handwritten HN number and none with artist mark!)"

Ours is of the same description ... Ours has no damages and must also be an older Janet. Ours was purchased as a Christmas present from the old Stouffer's Store in Cleveland OH per the label on the bottom. My guess is that this goes back to the 60's 70's timeframe since Stouffer's is long gone.

Hard to believe this one issome 70 years old ... She is in fantastic condition. Methinks if the others available on ebay and the rest of the net go for up to $395, this one looks like a very good deal!

Picture #8 (left) shows us flapper style figures. These are very popular with art deco collectors. The Cosmopolitan, 1935, #280 and At the Tea Dance, 1928, #281 are very deco. These are followed by the only two children in the series, Gentle Moment, 1920 and her boyfriend, A Lazy Day, 1920. The numbers are 12-404 and 403. But I have the original brochure and these are definitely part of the set.. In picture #9 (below), we have Strolling on the Avenue, 1904, #282, Afternoon Tea, 1875, and Impatience, 1800, #287. Picture #10 (below) features Reflections, 1800, #286, Promenade at Nice, 1912, #308, and Silver Lace and Rhinestones, 1922, #307. Note that we are now into the higher numbers and they get relatively hard to come by.

Goebel 1986 Fashion on Parade catalog with this figurine in it. Her name is "A Gentle Moment, 1920" (The year is her style of clothing.) From the catalog, "This young girl is dressed for an outing in town. Her white frock of crinolin symbolizes purity and innocence. She is holding out a rose, perhaps for an admirer."
